The job
Every company is drowning in semi-structured documents. A Document Intelligence Clerk reads invoices, W-9s, lease riders, shipping manifests, and insurance certificates the way a meticulous ops analyst would: field by field, exception by exception. It flags mismatches (PO vs. invoice, missing signatures, expired certs), proposes corrections, and only escalates when confidence drops or policy says a human must approve. This is not “chat with a PDF.” It’s a shift worker for your document backlog.
A day in the life
- 01 Ingests overnight email attachments and portal downloads into a processing queue
- 02 Classifies each document (invoice, credit memo, COI, SOW addendum) and routes by playbook
- 03 Extracts line items, totals, dates, parties, and custom fields into validated schemas
- 04 Cross-checks against ERP / procurement records and opens exception tickets with evidence
- 05 Files approved artifacts to the correct folder taxonomy and updates audit trails
